Hi all. I intend to do a run from the Zeka Spur tck and down the Caledonia River track and across over to the Butcher Country track and out to Licola via the MacAlister River track. Has anyone been this way recently and are there any issues still with bridge access out via Licola. Thanks in anticipation!! Leigh

According to Parks Victoria all those tracks affected by 'seasonal closure' are still closed.

Also ..... The Tamboritha Road at Licola is closed until further notice. The Tamboritha Road is the main access road into the Wonnangatta - Moroka Unit from Gippsland, 50km north of Heyfield. Accessing Alpine National Park north of Heyfield is not possible due to road and bridge failures.

SEE HERE

Click on the seasonal closures icon & you will see the tracks that you mentioned listed.

Leigh,

The latest update is that Cheynnes bridge has been repaired which means access from Heyfield to Licola is possible.

The road closure for the Tamboritha road includes the bitumen section of Tamboritha road from the National Park entrance to the start of the gravel. This also includes all the camp sites along the Wellington River.

As far as the seasonal road closures are still in place - it's best to contact Heyfield DSE. The site seems to be a bit misleading as all the seasonal closures in the High Country (Moroka Unit area) were open PRIOR to the flood/rain event - in which case they would all be open - but there is a fair amount of damage to some tracks. Other tracks are the best they've been for some time as they have been graded and fixed by DSE.

I thought the Licola Bridge got taken out again with all the rain on Cup Weekend. Have they been able to repair it already?

HD,

It did get damaged a bit but it's back operational I believe. A lot of the news footage from Cup weekend was the same footage from earlier in the year. A few of the media were calling Cheynnes Bridge Licola Bridge to add to the confusion. The abuttments to Cheynnes bridge were damaged but repaired very quickly - a good job by the Wellington Shire/Vicroads.

On Cup weekend, Caledonia, Butcher Country and McAlister River were all still closed. I have been told that both Caledonia and McAlister River tracks are still severely damaged and won't open for some time.
We came out of the station on Zeka, but then had to "mainroad" down to Tamboritha Junction and up Moroka Road to come out down Marathon Road.
As Tim said, Cheynes bridge is open I believe, but you can't get to Licola from your direction.
Cheers
