Was in local Toyota agent today looking at new model but was only a V8 petrol.
Asked if diesel ones had the fuel problem fixed and when would they be available.
Answer was they are now and it was only about 6 motors in the test fleet that filled up at one place and got a bad lot of fuel.
Said engines were returned to Japan for inspection and that was the answer.
All others were OK.
Well thats what the salesman said and if you can believe a car salesman well thats the answer.
Tis the season HO HO HO.

I think this highlights the crap fuel that we are putting up with.

It is about time someone does something about it before it puts someone's life at risk.
Like being stranded in the outback or very remote part of the country and never to be heard of again.

I think we Australians have more of a vast country side than a lot of other countries.
The elements with in Australia can be extreme.

I think this highlights that toyota is not testing properly.

Despite rumours of "development and testing" in Australia, production vehicles suddenly can't cope with our fuel?

What a load of crap. TRD Aurion withdrawn from sale, RAV4 withdrawn from sale, Corolla steering columns collapsing driving off the boat, LC200 diesels withdrawn from sale even before they are on sale.

Toyota has some serious problems, I'm afraid.

Jeez Gerhard,
You're game, criticising the almighty Tojo on this forum.

A large number of members (and lurkers too) are of the opinion that the sun shines out of Toyota exhaust pipes.

It's just as well that there are others to bring them back to reality every now and then.

Good Luck.

Disco.

I posted while ago some stats from Japan showing Toyota recalls had gone up in the past five years, while Honda, Nissan, etc had come down.

Shows they are starting to suffer from their own success,

As far as the TDV8 goes I think there are a large number of shonky fuel outlets around the country. We were warned off one in Eden (NSW) advertising diesel 10 cents/litre below the rest. There was some BP bloke in NSW featured on TV putting additives in his fuel to up the profit margin.
Toyota and others make their engines to comply with European standards and those standards must be pretty high when they have diesel Audi's, Merc's etc hooning around the place at mega speeds.
On LCOOL a NZ contributor said that while their TDV8s were held up it was subsequently confirmed that the problem only applied to Australia because of Australian fuel.
Personally I'm going to use ONLY the new BP Ultimate diesel unless it is not available, then I will still stick with name brand outlets. These engines have very fine tolerances and I'm not going to risk putting a home brand fuel through it. Hopefully I won't stop at a BP like the one I mentioned earlier.
I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

we have a 2006 gxl td. love it. second one we've had. were looking at the new 200 series. no manual ! and you have to unbolt the rear seats (3rd row) for touring. Stupid design after the easy set up in the 100 series. toyota has lost me as a customer until they wake up!

ROTFLMAO!!!! Thats gotta be the worst poor excuse I've ever heard.
Yota bosses: "Aussies believe Nissan dealers when they say they never had a 3.0 GU with an issue, they will believe anything"
