I'm chasing info from those with experience on the power upgrade kit from APS, the one that replaces the intercooler, exhaust system and power chip.

I'm looking for answers to:
1/ Is it worth the extra $$$ over just the normal Dtronic

2/ What difference has it made to fuel consumption?

and general comments if you have any.

Thanks

No comments on the APS upgrade but we (united fuel injection) fit a lot of TIAPAN exhausts and stianbauer P BOX's to the 100 series with excellent results.

Not trying to put you off course just giving you another option.

BTW im guessing this is the 1HD-FTE engine.

Ok not exactly sure what you want to know, the steinbauer 'P Box' is an aftermarket interceptor that plugs in between the pump harness and one wire is routed to the acclelerator pedal as a reference of throttle position and the electronics take it from there.

The tiapan exhaust are mandrel 3" systems complete with new fabricated dump pipe to match removing the ever restricting factory item.

We generally see figures of 170-180Kw after both these items have been fitted and the torque jumps from 430 to 500 ,this all depending on the base figures we see from your vehicle.

It is a simple one day job,non invasive on the cars behalf and gives excellent results.

Andrew,

I suggest you ask the question on the LCOOL forum in the 100 series section here:LCOOL

You should get some answers there.

Guess one question I have for you is what do you want to achieve, also what model do you have 4 or 5 speed. If you are just looking at reduced fuel consumption I'd say you can buy a lot of diesel for the cost of the kit and the 5 speed is already very economical. I have a 4 speed auto with the powerup kit and can say it makes a difference not only on paper, the performance is definitely improved and if you are an economical driver you will see a reduction in consumption. I can't say that I have any savings as I tend to use the extra kw's all to often. One other downside with the 4 speed is that the extra torque equates to a higher stall speed whereas the new 5 speeds auto's torque converter is much better suited and if you run taller tyres you will notice the 4speed auto working much like a high stall, but don't despair as Rodney from wholesale autos can fix that. You might want to have a chat with Darren at ATS in Geelong as I have found him very knowledgeable in more that one aspect.
Cheers Walter
