Hello,
I own a 1996 GXL wagon which I find has one very annoying habit. When the Drivers side window is down approx 50 mm it rattles its head off which as it is next to my ear is somewhat annoying. This rattle is more or less evident depending upon how low the window is....higher up being worse.
I was wondering if there's an easy fix as others must have had same issue by now.
Thanks for any ideas.
Regards Alan.

No! I don't have the same problem.
Mine is either all the way down or all the way up (usually up with aircon)
However, I have started getting problems with the passenger window getting stuck down when it is wet and I guess the track is wet. Must have gunk in the track somehwre. Goes away when dry and lately it has always been dry.

hi alan
it is possible you need new window slides as they tend to get hard and wear check to see how much side ways movement (inwards/outwards of the car)
good luck reggy2

Alan
I have had the same since new - 1997. It comes with the beast and I have been able to figure no way to fix it.
Window up with air con or heater or fan on or window down and fresh air is your choices.
Don't spend money trying to fix it - if you look at the design it has nothing to support it partly open.
Sorry - worry about when you can next get out in the bush instead of that!

Have same model. No such problem with
mine. But then as per other reply I usually have it either fully up or fully down.
Cure - don't have the window down 50mm - easy:-) Sorry mate - no genuine suggestions.

Tried
mine vintage of 1996 – nothing like this, very solid. But as someone said above I usually keep them close with AC run or if open then open fully.
Cheers

Hello,
I have had the problem and have had reasonable success fixing it by pushing a strip of sponge rubber between the inside side of the guide and the frame of the door. You can buy rolls of of sponge with adhesive on one side. You need a strip about one cm wide and 10cm long , probably of medium density if possible and put it in next to the vertical section of guiide at the front of the window.
The idea is to squeeze the guide narrower,
mine has been in place for about 12 months.
Cheers, Jerry.
