when I open EXPOREOZ.COM I get a warning from my spyware killer saying that " Expoloreoz.com is trying to download code segments from DOUBLECLICK.com", Doubleclick is a dangerous site according to my spyware terminator because of "Phishing and scams". Somehow it has "linked" itself to Explore Oz and is trying to lead us all down the road of doom, plague and pestulance...
Just thought I'd pass it on in the event that some 15 year old PC Guru can "delink" it - or do you guys want it here?
It's only happened since Thursday evening.

This should not be able to happen at all and sounds to me like a real concern. Can you tell me what happens when you try - do you get t he buttons, does the page load.

There is on particular add that is from Doubleclick

You can add it to your hosts file and exclude it.

I can still post but the add at doubleclick can't load.

You should block the cookies from third party sites which will allow the EO site to show its adverts but not accept any cookies from the third party advertisers unless you want to accept them.

Do this by using the pop up blocker within IE and then manually only accept / allow those sites you trust such as EO itself.
Have a look at the Privacy Report icon on the lower right of your screen just above the task bar it will then tell you what is blocked for each page you view.

Sometimes I think those spy ware terminator programs give you more grief than they are worth.
IE has very good security settings itself you only have to configure them to suit your needs.

Most of the above is correct however blocking doubleclick should not have any effect at all on posting threads.

I agree with John about the number of spyware and content control programs that give you the wrong message. Doubleclick is the largest online advertising tracking company. When an ad arrives at your computer (almost no mater from where it comes) a cookie arrives at the same time. This cookie is looked at if say you click the ad - when you arrive at the site that was in the ad the cookie that arrived is checked - this way they know where you came from and exaclty what ad you clicked.

I have no idea what most of these programs say Doubleclick is a scam and phishing site as this is just not true. I would say unblock it however it is up to you.

if it started on Thursday I suspect it is related to the Toyota campaign. I will see what it is foinf but I can assure you it is not a major doom and gloom concern.

Thanks for letting us know.

Yes, interesting, I did a check up of who said what about whom in Spyware Terminator and I think it's what we would politley call "a mischevious classification"....It would appear that anyone can rate a site for Spyware Terminator...

Doubleclick.com is a pretty well known and large business.

They are used by sites to count various things like click-thrus and the like.

There is nothing vaguely phishing about them.

Cheers
Andrew.
