I noticed this in a recent 4x4 mag and it grabbed my attention. I was after a slide that dropped lower to allow better access into the fridge.
This seems to look the part and I will contact them next week as its seems they are a
Brisbane firm.
What do you think of it or does anyone have one and what are they like? Leave the cost out of it for the moment.
Web site is www.platinumgear.com.au the site does not show bugger all guess its under construction. Or check out page 242 in 4x4 action mag.

Gidday Brian,
I saw one of these at the 4wd show in
Perth and was happy to
fork out the $500.00 including postage to
Perth.
I had been thinking of something along these lines but never did anything about it.My troopy has 300mm high _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx and with a normal slide needed a ladder to reach the top. This new unit drops it about 250mm to a more usable height.
When you look at the system it is fairly simple but seemed to be effective in the demonstrations. If you have a ute with a tail
gate the slide will only go as far as the tail
gate. This unit I believe was designed by Shane of Michelle Sacs (hence the high price) , I should have
mine in 2weeks time as there was a 1 month delay.

It maybe designed by Shane ...... I was not aware he was in
Brisbane as that is the contact number I have.
I have a drop side ute as in my rig pic and as I see it it would drop quite low and be rather easy to access the inside of the fridge. A HUGE bonus for the wife.
How it comes back up I am hoping it is like a release clip and move via the struts (if that how it works).
I would be interested in what you think of it when you get yours.

Gidday again Brian,
the drop sides on the ute should be fine,it was only on the tailgate that dropped to a horizontal position that restricted the slide. The unit has a locking pin/clip that allows the fridge to slide out and 2 struts to manage some of the weight on dropping and lifting. My wife is of a small stature and had no trouble lifting the full fridge back into position. The only thing that you may have to allow for is how far out the slide goes to miss the sidegate of the ute.Hope this info clears things up a bit.

Looks to me that it is a manual lift to return the fridge into its sliding position. I think the girlie in the picture would struggle with a full fridge.

Managed to chat with the owner of this slide and I am keen to check them out some more. One to suit my trailblazer will not be available till March (bugger).
Operation is via gas struts and I've been told a full 50 litre fridge (may have been 60 litre he said ) and is no effort at all, in fact he said only take a couple of fingers as the struts do all the work.
The slide drops down 300 mils which on my drop side ute will put it at an easy height. If my wife comes
camping again THAT will be a must.
He indicated to watch the web site as its being updated when they get a chance.
