I also have the gas ring but hardly use it.
I prefer cooking by coals. More even heat distribution.
You simply measure the diameter of the Oven and add and subtract the number of heatbeads required. 2 more for the top and two less for the bottom.
For my Bushking, the 12 inch diameter results in 10 heatbeads underneath and 14 heatbeads on top.
I sit the Oven on a wire "cakestand" sitting in an old frypan to allow air circulation. You can also buy a Hillbilly pot stand.
I get consistent cooking results every time, regardless of whether I'm baking bread. (about 1/2 hour) or cooking a joint of meat and veggies.
