Has anyone done the trip from
Pinnaroo to the
Rock Holes, nth to
The Crater and west onto the Loxton Road lately? If so, what was it like? IS the track nth along the border like the sth
Border Track? Thinking about maybe going in Late Feb / March 08 for the weekend. Are there any good
camping spots? I know, lots of questions - no, I'm not a cop!!
Thanks
Louie (the fly)

Hi Louie
From few months ago the bottom section of the
border track running North from
pinnaroo road is not hard at all however it was full of short twisty bumpy sections that reminded me of sand moguls on the way to
Madigan line camp 14 last year. Very slow rough and not interesting.

Louie, its sandy around there but aren't as high as south of
Pinnaroo. Reasonable
camp at the Shearers Hut with
tank water usually available. I don't mind the drive at all, wouldn't call it uninteresting, but yes it is mogul-ish as Robin says. Will probably be hot and sand pretty soft at that time of year.

If its the rockholes along the
border track, save your time.. We were there few weeks ago, and it was such a letdown apart from fact it was bleep with rain. (as long as the rockholes were what you could see from the road but we walked in, spend about 1 second there, and went back to car... waited 10mins for other cars to catch up..
We came from shearers 1/4s down the
border track, did the whole lap down, track was great, some sections were 100+k's. others were bumpy as hell and 2nd gear crawling.

Yeah, same here.
We went from Pinnarooster to Customs House via
Rock Holes...
The rockholes were a couple of stagnent mozzieblown puddles of
water,,,, one was 1 metre deep and the other was shallower...
Track was simple all the way along,,
well,, there was one area where the track sorta disappeared for a minute or two then it came back again....
Camp spot we had was good because it was straight into the scrub and there was heaps of wood.
