Just lately the Statesman is getting a bit lazy when cranking. Sounds like the Delkor Calcium Battery is starting to die.... after 5yrs and 3months!!
Better get another one me thinks ;-)

You beat ours by a month. We got just short of 5 years and 2 months on our 97 VS V8 series two statesman HSV enhanced. Top vehicle. Not sure what model you have but couldnt fault ours. One power steering pump and one
water pump, and the resister (spelling) that is under the plenum chamber near the wipers bleep itself. $170 to replace compared to $35 for the standard commodore because it had climate air. Sold it with 130k. Regards Steve M

Nah, still gotta have some life in it...
stick it on a "decent" charger for a while to stir it up and unsettle any sulphation.
I went through the same drastic thoughts earlier this year, however I connected my Delkor Calcium DC (my 'starting' battery) in parallel with my solar system charged AGM's for a day, and now it's 6½ years old and still turning it over like a new one again.

Obviously you've all replaced the standard Alternator with Three-stage Alternator ?@$#!*
Only one of these "
well-known facts" is true ! Your battery experience is the proof.
1. Car Alternators can only charge a battery to 70% of its capacity.
2. A battery that's never charged above 70% of full capacity will be dead within a year.
