Anyone been into Gorrie WWII Airstrip last tourist season that could verify if the stolen signs are back , the last time I was there about 2 and a half years ago they were gone, I don't know, they could have been taken away because of Grafitti and then replaced or gone for good .

I passed by in August this year and seem to recollect that there was a sign. Camped there on many occasion in the past.

I was there in October and do recall a sign but didn't take a picture of it... As I recall it was at the Northern End of the field and it was not a new one.

But I might not have gone looking for other signs...

These two pictured were at the southern End , I would presume someone would have flogged them, Mongrels, Some of them even take the Croc warning signs

Doug,

We were there in July last year, and other than the sign on the bitumen, didn't see any other.

Found the old hangar/workshop, but didn't see the strip that is on the Gorrie page on EO.

Could almost smell the fumes of the avgas, and cordite, while there!

Hooroo,

Bob.
Seen it all, Done it all.
Can't remember most of it.

The Strip is not far from where you were, when going in if you had took or kept swinging to the right you would have come upon it , was great getting the troopy up to 100kph , the trees flashing by, Spitfires on my mind,
The photo I took from the Northern End
