The above thought occured to me today at work. We have never hired a rental vehicle out to a Patrol owner because their vehicle has just expired. Cannot say the same about rover and Jeep. Chap in today hiring a vehicle because his rover 2.5 expired. Up for over $10000.00 . Something to think about.

Maybe the Nissan owner only travel with others so they dont have to hire, Then again I know John R had to hire after Moses lost a tooth in the Flinders....

Then again I dont think its any surprise either that Rover and Jeep are common hirers LOL

Most of these break downs are people travelling on main roads. The chap that returned one of our vehicles today I really felt for. Wife has advanced leukaemia, stuck in Bathurst 3 weeks waiting for repairs to return home to Qld. We have one 3lt on fleet with 89000ks with no problems yet.

just out of curiousity, why such a mixed bag? usually fleets are based around a brand and a few different models, rather than 1 of this and 1 of that etc (not referring to the trucks and buses)

Fisho64, Mostly toyotas, nissans and falcons. Depeciation is the killer, we are trying to buy a bit different to most fleets to minimise depreciation. Also who is offering best deals at the time. Only warranty issue with a nissan was a wheel bearing on a xtrail. These are a top little unit, not as refined as a rav but a lotr cheaper.

I do believe that they wouldnt entertain the fact that a Nissan rear diff tooth breaking off during the (extended) warranty period was an allowable fault.

Hogwash IMHO. Toyota after sales service is legendary

John sorry to hear of your plight, It just struck me that in spite of all the bad press 3lts get we have yet to see a customer come in to hire a car , because theirs has broken down. I was not trying to upset jeep and landie owners as we have one on the family property, just telling it like it is

Mate works for BMW - they had an M5 (not the X5) driver come in screaming warranty for a hydraulic locked donk...

The story goes, he tried to drive the sports car thru the floods - over bonnet deep.

They hit him for $48,000 for a new engine and no warranty due to circumstances... (as expected!)

So $10k aint bad although you could go a whole range of engines for them bux.
