Gday All !! I got into my Gu this afternoon to find the SUB TANK light on the dash glowing. The sub tank has been empty for a few days so i filled it to see if the pump was running, it was not. The sub tank switch will not turn the warning light or the pump on or off and will not fill to the main tank as it normally would. The main tank is only half full and should be low enough for the pump to send fuel from the sub tank to the main.. Regards Michael

Michael,

Try disconnecting your battery for a couple of minutes, this will reset the sub tank relay.

It is a common thing to happen on Patrols especially with a turbo timer

Cheers Luke

This was covered about 2 months ago, I had it happen, the auto leccy also fitted a better earth lead from the body to the chassis, apparently the earthing of something through the sub tank wiring can set off the problem, improving this earthing stops it happening again.

We havn't had any troubles as yet with the sub tank,(touch wood) but I put a heavier earth stap on from the battery to the firewall, as Bilbo suggested some months ago and so far our cd player has stopped its habit of turning itself off!! (was getting very annoying!!) cya unc :-)
