We are currently looking at insurance for our
camping accessories locked up and while out in the open, anyone had any? Also has anyone ever had their vehicle assessed by a loss adjuster/assessor so to insure for agreed value rather that market value, in
Adelaide SA. Tks

Give this company a call. The only problem is they will only provide cover for
camping equipment if youy have camper trailer, caravan or 4WD cover as
well.

Hi Lyndon,
Have not Insurance for
camping gear as yet, but have 2003 Nissan patrol insured for agreed value with SGIC and no loss adjuster/assessor looked at it. Cheers

I've got my
camping gear insured under the Personal Effects section of

We too are insured with TCIS- both vehicle and
camping gear. The
camping gear, which from memory is insured for about 6k (fridge, tent, swags, etc) only costs a bit more than $100 a year. The best thing about this is that it is covered whether in vehicle transit, set up and being used or set up and unattended. Previous insurer could only offer me insurance if it was in a locked vehicle and stolen, fire etc- a bit hard when I had a tray back ute.
Their vehicle insurance is pretty good too, cant remember the finer details of the policy, but the vehicle is covered geographically anywhere in Aus (accident, recovery of said accidented vehicle etc), one free windscreen, maintained no claim bonus when switching, a few things that elude me at present and about $250 cheaper than previous insurer
Good luck with the research.

I have all of my
camping gear insured with Western QBE, along with the camper trailer. Additional $2K of cover provided by agreed value. I also have my car with them but this didnt really matter. Dont know if they do SA, but QBE should and they are the same company. No issues so far and they have been very accommodating, although like with any insurance company that may change if I ever have to make a claim.

We had a 40 Ltr Engel stolen a few years back, was insured with QBE. No problems with the claim except we had not listed the cover so only got the fridge replaced. API will also cover
camping gear up to $2000 anywhere in Australia with home contents. Regards Nav.

Thanks for all the reply's. Probably should have spelled out our situation a bit clearer to start with. Already have car and caravan insurance through DGA and have been quite happy with their service and have also made previous claims in regards to the car with no hassles. They are looking into a policy for us but am not sure they will have one. We really want our gear covered whether locked in the Tvan, car or i the open air, don't mind paying and aren't after a bargain deal as our
camping gear/tools etc would be worth at least 20k.
Cheers Lyndon
