Looking to purchase my first GPS after a few wrong turns on a recent desert trip. Looking to down load trecks from ExploreOz any advice on best brands etc appreciated. Looking at a NavmanS50 or S80, will this do the trick ?

No!! I don't think any auto routing Navigators will give directions out in
the desert.
It's best to use a Garmin or magellan GPS or maps through OziExplorer will be a better option

You can buy a PDA with inbuilt GPS, street navigation software & windscreen mount etc for as little as $420.00, (Mitac Mio P350) these come with Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system that will allow you to install OziExplorer CE & then use your own mapping for off road use.

Though they are not the same product by any stretch....just companies owned by the same corporation.

Andrew
Thank you,
So it will Same schitt, different owner
Mio parent Mitac has apparently acquired rival handheld GPS gadget maker Navman, but the deal will not necessarily boost the company's own GPS division.
