Hi everyone - I want to make a mount for my video camera so I can mount it inside the Cruiser to film whilst I am driving. I was wondering if anyone out there has made (or bought one) and would be kind enough to share there plans with me.

I saw a similar thread some months ago - which got me thinking about this - but I can't seem to find it :-((

Thanks for any positive replies.

Karl,

I saw one gaffa taped to a bullbar at Pyrenees, operated with the remote control that looked like a good idea, unless it hit a low branch, but it'd have to be pretty low. And the footage looked good too.

Maybe something very temporary would be an idea.

Alternatively I have seen Cargo barriers altered to fit a video camera, shoots from the back of the driver/passenger and gives a great aspect of being right n the car with the driver too!

Use a ball head.

Remove the radio and drill a 8mm hole for the mount. They are very sturdy and compact. Use a big flat washer as the dash is plastic.

Ball Mount

I fitted one of these for Patricia Woodgate who writes for Caravan and Motorhome.

G'Day Karl,

I'd just like to add. If you are going down this path, purchase a good quality ball mount like the Manfrotto pictured. There are other brands that will do the job also.

DEFINITELY stay away from the $20 jobs thinking they will do the same task, they won't

Its been a while but I think it was $90. I bought it from Photo Continental in Brisbane but you can try Ted's where you are.

manfrotto owners have a saying "if you have to ask, then you can't afford it" :-)

Normally around $55 for this one from camerastore online.

I have the SM4 and can't speak highly enough. Its been over some very rough terrain and held up quite well.

But it is more costly than cheaper alternatives.

If you could get hold of a suction tool that glaziers use, you could use it and modify it to take a camera.

I use Ram-mounts to hold my video camera as it is fully modular and it is interchangeable with my GPS for most other times.

A good suction base, coupled with a 1" ball and socket setup and the RAM-B-202AU

I would rather have a system that is flexible to use with other equipment, than just the video camera.
