Hi all ,
I need some advice on a noise I can hear when I push the clutch in I hear a noise like a bearing noise but when I take my foot off it goes away does anyone care to take a stab at what it could be as about 20 months ago I rebuilt the gearbox put new seals on the transfer case replaced the clutch pressure and thrust and spigot bush and had the fly wheel machined I'm a little lost as these parts are still new ??
Regards J.B.

Johnny Boy,
Sounds like the thrust bearing.
When the clutch pedal is depressed the clutch
fork applies pressure to the thrust bearing.
This is the noise that you can hear.

As said before...it sounds like a throwout bearing noise.
Do you have pedal free-play...you might have the adjustment too close to the pressure plate. You need about 25mm movement before the pedal starts to push on the pressure plate.
This will cause pressure to always be on the bearing and it will not relax when you remove the foot pressure wearing it out prematurely.
Have you done any
creek crossings etc in your 20 months?
Is the clutch kit reputable and not a EBAY item or unkown cheapie?
Do you rest your foot against the clutch pedal while driving?
Did you replace the spigot bearing when you did the clutch?
Sorry mate apart from that....
Matt.

Hi Mat Hi all.
Just to answer a few yes I just got back from fraser and crosed
water but the noise was there before I did any
water crossings.
the clutch is standard Daiken which I think is reputable .
no I nor my wife rest our foot on the clutch whilst driving I know that is not a good thing to do .
and yes as I stated above the spigot was replaced .
but Im still thinking it may be a dud spigot as
well and thanx guys I appreciate the advice and yeah I will take it to a gearbox place I just wanted a little more knowladge before I approached them .
Regards J.B
