Hi to all who have replied.

Thanks for all your support. It does help.

The camper is insured but the payout probably will not cover the cost of replacing the whole lot. Iit will help to go towards a new one. Unfortunately the contents were not insured as we did not start with alot but as time has gone on we have. A slip on my part to not insure the contents.

Outback campers have been very helpful and we are hoping that if it is not found, and I have the insurance money before Christmas (which I doubt) they will be able to provide a camper for us to go away in.

The photo on this site that Matt has placed is my camper, exact colours. The only difference is the doorway. They now make door next to the trailer, ie. oposite end of the wall.

We are still hoping we will get it back even if it takes a while. I am in the process of letting all the parks know. A big job, but it may turn up over the Christmas period.

So if we all keep looking, you never know.

Ozi

It may be a little late now, but ring 3AW (morning show with Ross and John). They've broadcast stolen vehicle before. Tell them your Xmas holiday has been ruined.

I'll keep a look out.

Howdy mate, what a low act. I can only hope it somehow ends on a positive note for you & your family. Check your insurance policy as we took out comprenhensive insurance on our caravan & there is an automatic inclusion of $1000 for contents.Just a thought. Best wishes & good luck

Hi Barry

I have just done some checking in respect of the insurance.

Same thing, I have an automatic inclusion of $1000.00 for contents. I just have to prove to the insurance company as to what contents I had.
They stated I had to show I actually did have contents in the trailer. They indicated that receipts were required.

I guess I have some hunting to do at home.

The insurance is not available until the New Year. We can't consider buying a camper until then, in case it turns up. But things are looking a little brighter and we maybe able to take off in the New Year instead of straight after Christmas.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Like others, I feel for you and your family. Probably teaching you how to suck eggs, but it may be worthwhile checking Trading Post, Saturday classifiieds, and even ebay, for someone trying to make a quick buck for Christmas.

Also agree with the suggestion that you notify other camper trailer groups eg campertrailers.org

Good Luck

Hi

The whole thing is senseless, it's not like the camper was worth a huge amount of money nor the contents.

In the end we will be able to buy another one, it may cost us a little more than what the insurance will cover. It also the replacement cost of the contents, if the insurance does not cover all of it.

We were really looking forward to going away and I just feel really angry and disappointed.

You cannot leave anything at home unless you lock it totally up. It was a really safe area, there had never been anything stolen from the area before.

The challenge is also about how to ensure that we do not have this situation occur again.

Hey All.
What about setting up a mailing list(alert) to all van parks, so we can alert others to the situation before the theives realise it has been done. Therefore this may give us the oportunity to catch them before they realise we are on to them. Can every one see what I'm tryin to say.
Cheers 4 now.

I was just thinking about letting local caravan parks know here on the Fraser Coast, as is popular camping/holiday area.

Hi

I have already started emailing the caravan parks, it is a big job, but your idea is a good one. I had a reply from one saying they would keep an eye out for it.

I would suggest setting it up with the caravan associations or organisations that caravan parks align themselves with.

Then you only have to email HO and hopefully they can send a general alert out.

I think under these circumstances you have to move quickly, so I am suggesting the above.

Once I get through the new year, I will contact some of the organisations to see if they are interested and I will let this site know.

Real bad luck - what a low act. Just in case things go positive for you and the mongrels decide it is getting too hot for them and dump it or you get it back - remember to let everyone know that you notify now just in case your xmas goes even worse with a visit from the police while your away in holidays in your recovered camper (hopefully).

probably worthwhile you keep a good list of who you tell now. good luck

Yes they used to settle this sort of thing with a rope over a tree but now its a slap on the wrist because he had a bad upbringing.. I like the rope idea and i guess it provided much needed entertainment in the days of no Gameboys, PSP's Motor cars, Tv... u get the idea!! Michael

Michael, You and I think along the same lines.....too bad it's frowned upon by the bleeding snivel-libertarians.....

So very sorry to read about this mongrel act. I know how I would feel if it were me in that position..... we use our camper trailer at least once a month and it is "just there" whenever we need it.

I do hope that it turns up (unharmed). I honestly think it would likely be an opportunist trying to turn it into cash....unlikely to be a budding camper who intends to tow it around the countryside and stay in caravan parks.....too much chance of getting caught. (but who knows? Some people have more front than David bloody Jones these days...)

I saw that one as I was checking Ebay to see if mine might be up for sale on the site.

It is the virtually the same as mine.

I am going to keep an eye on it. But I have to wait until the insurance money comes through in case mine does turn up.

But it is looking good the insurance company say they can settle by the 28th December.

You are great.

I followed your suggestion with 3AW. I sent them an email yesterday, so hopefully they will announce it.

I also want to say a big thank you to you for organising it with the local radion station. It sounds like we will get good exposure in our local area.

I now have a little more faith that there are people in this world who want to do the right thing.

I must say how much I appreciate all the support, suggestions and help we have been receiving.

The offer of the use of a camper trailer from John at Trackabout Campers in Brisbane was a wonderful gesture, as is Kim's from Cranbourne in Victoria and Crazy Dog who must be from Cairns.

Unfortunately being from Victoria and time is limited I am unable to accept the offers from Queensland, but I might give Kim a call, as he is just down the road.

If we can all keep looking, I will keep searching with the dealers and the caravan parks.

At leas the police are now moving, they are finally starting to make some enquiries.

Thanks to all.

Thanks Steve

I think we have just got to the stage, where we are not sure what we are doing.

If the insurance money comes through, we may have time to buy a second hand trailer and start the holiday later. It is getting close to Christmas, and work is so busy, that I feel I can't make any decisions at the moment.

I am just going to wait and see what happens and for the timebeing have shelved all plans for the timebeing.

But thank you for your offer.
