Hi All,
Has anyone changed the valve shims on a 4.5 motor with non-specialist tools? What, how etc.
Otherwise how can it be done at home, anybody got access to those
tools and can loan them. I suppose it's just a lever with a 'U' shape eccentric part to push the bucket down.
Any info greatly received.

I did it on 1HZ diesel. Very easy to do at home when replacing timing belt. I do not have special tool and recommendation to use two screwdrivers from non-factory service manuals proven to be rubbish. Far easiest and faster way is take off camshaft.
