Hi,
I have a Navman iCN520 which I purchased about 2 years ago. It has the "Where Is" version 3.5 maps. Can I upgrade this to a newer version by downloading on the web? There is nothing on either the Navman or Where Is web sites for the iCN520.
Cheers,

Doesn't look like you can....for the pricely sum of $349 (at least for my N60i), the map upgrade is not worth it as they are still are using 2006 or older sensis data. It would probably be the same with yours IF they were available.
I bought my N60i in May this year and it had 1-2 year old data in it in any case....... damn sensis and navman arrangements. Try and drive the South Western Highway in WA and watch the data disappear!

Thanks, looks like I will keep the current maps for now and upgrade to an entire new satnav in a couple years.

Sorry to read your problems but it does put just a slight smile on my face , Not for you but the fact I see happening what I have been saying and suggesting for months and sort of backs up my thoughts about Navman , Thats why I will not use anything except Garmin .

IMO Navman is crap, we have had so much trouble with the damn thing, it has been replaced twice under warranty and tho it now does work as designed, the maps we have are the latest supplied as a gesture of good will due to the troubles, they still don't show some major roads that have been in place over 3 years or more.
$25 buy a street directory ;-)

Actually it's funny that Garmin use exactly the same data as Navman as some others in equivalent versions (new models just released have CN - 2008)..... Sensis copyright 2006.
Unless there has been some localised updating, then don't expect things to be any better between models and using the same sensis data.
When i meant "data disappear" i wrongfully meant that the data is crap in that area....and the highway seems to have been like that for some time.
The $349 is essentially for a whole new license, the maps, and all software. Just how much does it cost to upgrade, for instance, the Nuvi 660, with the latest maps?????

Top End,
I've had a Navman N40i now for about twelve months, it's been reliable in its defence I haven't had to take
mine back or anything like that. I had trouble when I renewed my computer getting one to talk to the other, doesn't like the Vista software, I've got the sync to work now but nowhere near as easy as it was to set up on Windows XP. As with any technology now it won't be long before everything is outdated, that's how these companies make their money, I see now that Navman have brought out the S series which no doubt will make the N series redundant in about 12 months time, and so it goes on.
For me it's got me to
places using different
routes than I would of normally used, using a street directory works obviously, but these nav devices look for the best possible way and the fastest way of getting somewhere.
Been invaluable when I've travelled interstate on business at night time when I'm tired and get p!ssed off pretty quick stopping to read a street directory all the time. Now I like the Tom Tom Go 720 I think seems to be up there and you get a new map upgrade free next June into the bargain, my opinion and not affiliated to anyone who sells Tom Tom gizmos.
I like them and accept that they will be outdated in maybe two years three at best. If you use them a lot they pay for themselves fairly quickly, I put quite a high price on getting somewhere efficiently, and knowing how long the trip is going to take within say five minutes. Oh and the Navman doesn't have a fix for daylight saving, minor I know but still a nuisance sometimes.
Hope some of this helps.

Hi all
We bought a new HP ipaq with Tom Tom Navigator a few months ago and noticed that a whole subdivision near our area wasn't shown even though it has been in existence for at least 5 years. I got onto the Whereis site and outlined the changes and received a message back from them a couple of weeks later thanking me for my input and letting me know that they have now changed their records and next years maps will show the subdivision in full. If you become aware of discrepancies in an area let them know about it and hopefully they will be just as amenable.
Cheers
Mrs Wilgadene

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD !!!! Why should you have to let them know. Didin't you pay for the right to use their map. Surley the obligation is theirs and theirs alone. This business of waiting for the consumer to complain is all too common and is evidence of a breakdown in quality control and product developement. How many people buy a new vehicle only to find it has heaps of faults (leaks, rattles, missing bits) that they have had to identify and then argue with the 'dealer' for repairs. Happens all too often. Why put up with it?

Australia is a BIG country, sopposing you were doing a map survey and a new Suberb pops up in the last 12 months in
Geraldton WA , If I didn't let you know you would have no lnowledge about it , so user feedback can play a major part of updates ,
