Just got a new Navara STX Auto , lovely to drive but only getting 13-14 litre/100km on mix of town / country driving . Best so far has been 12.5 l/100km on highway trip . Only done 6000 km yet , is it going to get better ? 4WD mags and spec sheets reckon I should be getting 9.5-10 l/100km .

I have heard that these units are a bit high on fuel consumption early on but improve later as they loosen up etc.

Friend has a manual and is getting around 10/100 in a mix of conditions.

I must say that my triton has been getting the same sort of economy from day one and hasn't changed since clocking up 30,000 ks.

Best I get out of it is around 8.2/100 on highway and about 10 around town.

news flash......just recieved some important info via email

A 2007 study found that the average Australian walks about 1450 klm per year.

Another study found that Australians drink an average of 83 litres of beer a year.

That means, on average, Australians get about 5.72l per 100klm or around 40 mpg

Not bad eh!

That equates to 227 ml (one small glass) of beer per day and 3.97 km a day.

I'm certainly well above average on one and way below average on the other.

Anyone care to hazard a guess which is which?

Our St-R (manual 2006...d22) has only done 6000km too and its getting a smidgen under 10L / 100km. Mention to you dealer and get them to have a look at it but it might also loosen up.....

we wanna know why our trip meter keeps resetting along with the clock.

good luck.....

by the way...whats the difference between ST-R & ST-X ?? Im assuming its all cosmetic stuff....

Hi Laura

There is absolutly no camparison between the two models, size, engine, running gear, suspension and interior is totally different. The ST-X has more power and is more comfortable, also more expensive.

Cheers

Might help if you said if it was diesel or petrol. My diesel (manual) has done 81,000 kms now. Fuel use is 10.2 L/100 km over this distance and has been from new.
I think this idea of the new diesels 'bedding in' is a load of crap - but no doubt others will disagree!.

Never had 9.5 (I suppose I could if I drove at 90 kph on freeway)!

Funny thing about these little Jap diesels, but rev them a little more and get better economy..
Our D22 Navara gets 9.5-10 km/lt local driving, say 2750 revs, 5 th gear ,, 100 km /hr
Take it up to Albury to see the mates up there .,,,, 3000 revs and 10.5 km/lt ,, 112km /hr

Try it and you might agree,,, If you think Its crap ,, well thats all right too,,

Cheers Mate
