I have a Toyota 2006 Rav. After collecting my Rav from the panel beater after some minor malicious damage, driving home the tyre went flat. There was a slit between the tyre rim and steel belt. The tyre cannot be repaired. The car has only travelled 20,000.00 kms.
Could any one recommend tyres for this vehicle as I will replace faulty tyre with the exiting Bridgestone 225/65xdx17 dueller made in Japan and run them through until I need to replace the whole set. I was thinking of Cooper tyres?????????
As you can see I do not know much about tyres but was wondering if Cooper`s were longer lasting then Bridgestone??
Thanks Muchly,
Annette.

Hi Is it Jocelyn Kelly , Muchly or Annette
Those OE duellers were a very weak highway only rated tyre and we changed our Rav4 to Dunlop Grandtrek At2 , but our 2006 one was the last of old model and these were 16in , so don't know if these are available in 17 in

Jocelyn if you do a search on tyres I think you will find most people think coopers are overrated. Do you intend going off road? I am leaning towards either bfg or Kumhos for my Jack.
Cheers Pete

Thanks Pete, No I do mainly highway driving. I was thinking of bfg as
well as Coopers. After researching a little more I think you are probably right.
Cheers Annette

Hi Annette
Since you don't intend to go off-road the warranty that Coopers offer should be a bonus for you. The problems most people have is with the warranty when tyres are used off-road and chipping when off-roading. So for your intended use Coopers would probably be a good choice.
Cheers from the Moose

If it's never going to see the dirt you can go in 2 main directions;
1. Get offroad all terrain tyres such as on offer from BFG, Coopers etc that will provide great durability.
2. Get highway tyres that will provide greater handling and control on the black stuff.

Yup -the Coopers have a good warranty- provided that:
You can find a dealer that participates in the programme.
That it must be a Capital City purchase- and driving is resticted to the Metroplolitan area.
That every 10000km the tyres must be rotated & balanced & a wheel alignment.(At your cost).
That you have no more than 3 WeetBix for breakfast.
etc etc.
