G'day all, I have searched, honest..... I am positive that I read a post on here, about how to modify a standard Patrol GU cruise, so that you can use it as a hand throtltle. I don't want to use it as that, but i would love to lower the low setting, currently about 50 kmhr to about 25 kmhr, does any body know if this can be done and if so, how? It is the cruise on a GU 4.2 TD. Thanks in advance, John

Hi John
I believe I wrote that article. It is complex and involves cutting all the wires and rewiring them back to a multipole switch.
I use it for running car at high idle speed to charge batteries etc.
I do have drawings etc re-that article.
As for lowering the speed that is also tricky and involves dividing the pulses from the speedo to the cruise control circuit.
I actually did this using a jaycar kit that is used to change speedo readings.
While it did work , it was a bit rough as the number of pulses feeding the control circuit is already divided by 4 by the patrol and
I don't use it anymore.

Hi John,
Yes, Robin's correct. The lower spped limit in the cruise control is set in embedded code in the microprocessor; ie, can't be changed. A switchable pulse divider between the speedo pickup and the cruise control would achieve what you want, but another issue is the surging if you have a manual box. At cruising speeds in 4th or 5th, the torque is low enough to give a smooth control of speed, but in lower gears at a low speed, the increased torque will create difficulty in holding a smooth low speed.
I have a divider circuit to interface the GU speedo pickup to the AP50 or AP60, which can be programmed. Can be found on the Yahoo Patrol site.

Thanks for the reply Robin and Jock. The Autron unit I have in my ute goes as low as 40 k/hr, which is great, one in my new wagon only goes down to about 60 k/hr, and with the work zones being extended now adays, like in Sladen Street Cranbourne, 40 K's from High Street to Hall Rd, bugger it is hard to stay under the limit. Thanks once again for the replies.
