I a thinking of updating my GU to a new Patrol or a Prado. I currently have my 60l Engel in the Patrol on top of an Outback Drawer set (with a 1/2 cargo barrier) on their inbuilt fridge slide and find it just fits between the cargo barrier and rear door. The fridge gets used all the time so I want to continue to have it mounted permanently for daily use.
I am wondering if any Prado drivers out there have 60l engels and if so do they fit lengthwise with a cargo barrier or do you have to sit it crossways?
Also do other Prado drivers have storage systems and what type etc and how have you found them?
Also just to make the thread entertaining and for the 3.0 GU bashers benefit:
* The Patrol is a 2003 3.0 and it has been fantastic (and has not self destructed), several friends also have 3.0's and I would gladly buy another. I am considering the Prado as I expect it to be a bit more car like for daily driving.
* Any other Patrol vs Prado thoughts
Thanks very much
Darren

Darren,
I don't think there is a hope in hell of fitting the fridge North/South. I'm building a unit for a 120 Prado at the moment and it has a top deck depth of 900mm which is the same as the depth of the unit in my Terracan.
I've got a Waeco 80 which is almost identical in size to your Engel and it has to mount East/West.
I'll double check the 120 when I fit it to be sure.
Call me on 03 9706 6527 if you need any information. Not after a sale, just happy to help out with any advice.
Jim.

thanks Jim,
I thought I would be pushing it uphill aswell but when I looked inside a Prado the other day I was suprised by the apparent size of the cargo area, it looked quite decent.
the tape measure will reveal all I spose.
cheers

Friends of ours had a 80L Waeco on the floor next to one of the third row seats in their 120 Prado. If it was sitting up on a drawer and butting against the recline of the
seat? There is a surprising amount of room there.

I have a 2007 Prado D4D and have a Waeco 50 and 18l in back
Check out photos in this link
Don't think you would have any trouble with the Waeco 60 sideways like
mine and you would probably fit it in lengthwise too.

There is a huge difference in size (inside and out) between an Engel and Waeco 60.
The Engel 60 is similar in dimension (again in and out) to the Waeco 80!

Darren it would no doubt depend on how far back your 1/2 cargo barrier is mounted but there is normally enough room to fit a 60L Engel lengthways. If you need to replace the Drawer set you may consider putting the fridge down low with the _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx on the side, that way ensuring it will fit and making it far easier to access your cold beer to boot.
The 3L Pootrol is a nice car but you will find the Playdoe more refined, far better handling with an excellent list of standard features including the standard 180L tanks. With just a few upgrades it can be transformed into a pretty capable offroader.
Try the
lcool site for more specific information on the Prado and how it can be modified.
Cheers Craig..
