Hi
So you have all said fraser island is brilliant and the fishing is even better. So what gear do we take, have 2 reels on boat rods that we use for barra fishing but also have two longer rods with egg beater reels. Which should we take(won't have a boat) and what bait, line, hooks etc to use(and any other hints).
Thanks for your help

Favoured rig is a surf rod with either an Alvey side cast or an egg-beater.
Bait is usually pillies, on a 3/4 gang rig, for the larger fish, or pippies/worms on a long shank for the smaller varieties like bream or whiting.
Plastics and lures of various types can also be effective, specially when the tailor are on the chew. Look for a good gutter on a low tide at sundown for some good action.
Have fun..

Have a crack at McKenzie's Jetty or Wangoolba
Creek Estuary with a lure. We caught some nice Flathead (up to 42cm) using boat rods and spinning reals with a Meps #5 and a Meps Black Lightning. Also used some Pilchard morsels on the western and eastern beaches. On the east we fished (and stayed) at Cathedral Beach. At low tide there are some great sand holes to fish in. I only used a Flathead rig on the eastern side.
Good luck.

Actually, it was a Mepps #2 Black Fury and a Mepps #5. also used a Jensen 3g lure but didn't have any luck with that. Needs replacing I think. Wouldn't want you to use a different lure and catch jack.
