Hi there, Wondering if anyone that has one of these Strongarm carriers on a hzj75 troopy can answer these questions for me. I've left 2 email requests with K&N in
Perth (first one at least 2 months ago) and never had an answer. Actually it seems most
places are a bit slack with emails, longrange automotive never answered either.. Does the carrier (when locked) allow free access to the small rear door? Is it easy enough to fit yourself? Looking at the photos I see the pivot joint appears to partly block the drivers side rear lights, anyone in NSW had hassles with the rego inspections as they can be very picky with things like that?
Thanks and regards,
Peter

Peter,
Funny thing, I am working on the rear wheel carrier on my Troopie.
I have not seen the Armstrong wheel carrier but I would say that the small rear door should be able to open with the wheel carrier locked.
If you have a look at the photo the Tyre does not come near the small door.
As for fitting again I could not say as I have not seen the wheel carrier.
As you can see I have added extra tail lights to the rear bar and no problems with rego. In fact I had it passed yesterday for rego. Thanks again Scot

Thanks for the info, do you have the factory aux fuel
tank? My troopy only has the single 90l
tank, which is why I am after a wheel carrier. I was looking into getting a Longrange Automotive aux
tank, do you know anything about them?
regards,
Peter

Peter,
My Troopie has the OE aux
tank which was replaced with a 180lt
tank from Out of Town.
The rear wheel carrier does not interfere with the aux
tank.
Because you don't have a aux
tank as standard the aux
tank will work out a bit more expensive because of the extra pluming and wiring that will have to be done. If the vehicle is fitted with a OE aux
tank all the plumbing and wiring is there. It is just swapped over to the bigger
tank.

Not sure what you mean ...locked , if you mean when the the tyres in the closed position then NO , left wheel must be swung out to access the left door, same applies to the right ,
Don't worry about lights, the Carrier has LEDs mounted.

Hi Doug, Now I am a bit confused! Is that one in your picture a Strongarm? It looks totally different to the one they have pictured on their website which carries 2
wheels on the right side, From the angle they took the photo I can't tell if the left door would still be accessable when the arm is closed.

Photo is under Toyota PC on that page,

Ok now I know what your on about. I have a Mate in Kallamunda WA with a troopy with a K&N 2
wheels on the right which would be in same position as
mine , The left door opens no problems

K & N are no longer producing the Strong Arm carrier. It is now produced in
Melbourne by
All Terrain

Hi Tony,
I don't know who told you K&N 4wd no longer make the Strongarm carrier, but it's a load of crap. I spoke to Vance at K&N this afternoon and he gave me the facts, the All terrain version is a copy of K&N's. I've only heard good things about the K&N Strongarm carriers and now I know they do in fact still make them, K&N will be getting my business in the new year.
Regards,
Peter
