Problem: the power lock actuator on the front passenger door is no longer working the lock.

The lock works manually (from the passenger's handle) but when the power locks are actuated, the actuator, despite making the right noises, is no longer doing the locking/unlocking.

I have the door apart, but everything is shielded - for security I guess, so without totally dismantling it, I can't see what is going on or going wrong. Clearly there is power to the actuator and it is working a little...

I'd guess bulldust or a bent or broken connection between the actuator and the lock mechanism.

Has anyone had this issue?
How easy is it to remove the actuator?
How does one remove the actuator?

Thanks in Advance
Andrew.

Andrew,

I think that there are plastic locking clips that hold the steel connecting rods between the lock and the actuator.

If the plastic clip breaks or the connector pops out that might explain the non working.

You should be able to, after removing the door trim, get into the door lock. The door lock might have to be removed so that you can get into the connecting rods. A real pain but it might have to done.

Have you tried spraying WD40 or similar and see if that will free things up?

thanks Wayne ... should have thought of WD40 first.

I'll try that and try removing the door lock.

Cheers
Andrew.

nup - WD40 doesn't work.

I will save pulling the whole lot to bits until I know I can go and buy the spares on Monday.
