Hi everyone...a bit of a tricky one. I'm wanting to replace the little section of console (behind the gearstick) where I have mounted a uhf radio in my 2000 Prado. I cut a hole to fit the radio in properly, so when I removed it, there's a pretty obvious hole! Anyway, 20 phone calls or so to wreckers around Adelaide has resulted in absolutely no one having that part. Any ideas on alternative options (except of course to leave the radio in and buy a new one for the new car!!).

Thanks

Mark :)

Margro,
I bought one of those little storage draws with a folding lid from a car accessories store. Screwed it onto where the radio was mounted. It covered the holes and looked like it was meant to be there.

Cheers

My first call would of been to Toyota to get a price and availability.

You might be surprised that it may be cheaper then the wreakers.

Yep - it happens - bought a brand new headlamp assembly last month for the Jack (reflector body and glass)- only $20 dearer than a very used one from a wrecker. The wrecker wouldn't be told - the wrecker had no sale.

I reckon you could fashion a dummy panel from anything out of a wrecker car, even a storage box as mentioned above

I think your last option is the simplest way out (whoops, I wasn't supposed to mention that).
I've cut out the console under the car radio to fit some instruments. They will stay there when I sell the wagon.

Great...thanks everyone. What a simple solution - a trip down to SuperCheap, $20 for a new din sized pocket, a bit of mucking around and wham...problem solved. Thanks again!!
