Does anyone make a van with a drop down bed to save space-as done in some motor homes? The bed takes up so much space that could be raised overseating/table area thereby adding things like shower etc to a much smaller van,Would be a good idea I feel. Thanks,Mary

Hi Mary,
We had a Commodore Caravan years ago that had a double bed that folded up into the wall for day use of the area. I'm not sure if they still exist as a manufacturer but there are still s/hand Commodore vans around. Probably not all have this feature. I guess if you are buying new any manufacturer would incorporate a fold up bed for a price.
Just a word on practicality. In our case for the bed to fold up into its cavity in the wall, all the bed linen and pilloes etc had to be removed. My wife found this a bit of a pain - having to store this stuff somewhere and then remake the bed evry time it was to be used. Just make sure if you get one that you are happy with its practicality.
Cheers,
GPM

Gooday,
We have a Gypsy bed in our caravan, have an L shaped dinette on the left side, remove the table, pull out the panel beneath the
seat & it makes a bed 7ft10in long & 4ft wide. Use the
seat cushion & 2 bolsters made to fit the rest. Works a treat & very comfortable.
Cheers,
Boroma604.

Mary, we had Viscount Van with a drop down bed in the 80's. The bed had one
seat belt across the centre and was folded up into the cupboard all ready made up for the next night, no problems. This gave the van a huge lounge area and we loved it. I am disappointed that they don't make this anymore. Good luck finding a good one.
