In Google Maps how do you insert a GPS ref. e.g.28.674920/152.800877 into the 'address from' window so that it will take you to this location to start your journey. It wants only a street name
Next one
Last weekend I wanted to go to the Peacock Creek camping ground (28.660678 /152.715839) in the Richmond range N.P.(on a line between Kyogle and Bonalbo)and took the shortcut across Ettrick and Wollners Arm and then at (28.674920 / 152.800877 (the fork where the P Crk c/grnd sign is) I climbed up the hill on Sextonville rd into the forest. Five kms on the road broke up into monster ruts (lot of rain up there recently) so I went back down to the fork and took the Sextonville Forest rd, going Southwest, but at 28.687265 /152.793577 the road petered out at someones farm. Looked at HEMA map 1:375000 and there's not even a road marked. You can just see the 2mm before it stops.
Navigator showed a through road so when I got home, I looked at the Google sattelite map and on the 50m resolution, it does show the road resuming at 28.706078 / 152773583 Does anyone know what the story is on this road. Can you cross the land between these two points to go down to the bottom of P Crk
and back up to the camp. This is a really nice camping grd and well worth visiting.

just type in this ==> -28.674920 152.800877

note the minus sign to symbolise the Southern hemisphere...

Tks Andrew, but you only get a mark if you answer the whole question. What about the hard bit?

Wigger

I don't completely follow you!

The coordinates given are at the start and end of a road along Rose Creek on the eastern side of the richmond range.

The main road which follows along the crest of the richmond range is open from Kyogle end down to the Gwyder Hwy but other than the road cutting acroos the range at Peacock Creek all the side roads have recently been blocked off.

I agree that peacock creek is anice spot. We also like Cambridge plateau a little further south on the range.

We usually traverse along the whole range from Rosebury down through Bundoozle to peacock Creek then south to Cambridge Plateau and down to the highway at Mallanganee

Alan, yes at 28.674920/152800877 you take the right fork and go west up to Peacock creek via sextonville rd. Before i got to Bundoozle I had to retreat down the hill back to these co ordinates. I then started driving ssw, alongside Rose creek, along Sextonville forest rd, ignored Sheldons rd cos that's blind but the road ran out a couple of k's down You can see the farmhouse on the eastern side of the road wher it stops. (28.687265 /152793577) The whole idea of going round this way was to link up with Cambridge plateau rd and there is a road that theoretically does this . Trouble is that there's a missing bit from 28.706078 /152.773583 to the house. Put Google on 50m resolution and you'll see what I mean.
Now that they are blocking off roads you need to have alternatives planned and this was mine.
Incidentally you can no longer travel from Old Banalbo to Toonumbar via Upper Duck creek rd and Finneys Forest rd
-it's blocked off.
Where's this Rosebury (spelling?) where you start?
I tried to go from Cox's rd (near Grevillea) through to Toonumbar
the weekend before and got 2ks into the forest before started a slippin and a slidin (with only a 2wd). Once stopped the back wheels just deliver too much torque to ever grip so I had to back down for a couple of ks. Wouldn't want to spend the night up there. This is a great road to try sometime.
What are the facilities at Cabridge plateau like.?

Nice patch of rain forest up in Bundoozle. Not a place to be in the wet.

Rosebury is on the main road between the Lion's rd and Grevilla. It used to be a big forestry camp and had a great public camping area but it has now shut down. Enter the forest near there and climb up into the range.

Up in the same area (on side track) is Eden creek falls which is worth the walk.

Cambridge Plateau also used to be a forestry camp but now only has a couple of picnic tables last time I was there. It is high, cool has views down across Casino and usually doesn't have the crowds of Peacock Creek.

These are dry weather roads as in the wet they become very slippery

Alan, Found it_ ROSEBERRY !!
Asked you about Cambridge Plareau camp grd because on back of HEMA map it shows it as having BBQ's and toilets (Fees payable for camping) but someone else also said that there's not much there. If you say the P C crk camp is sometimes crowded, then I'd rather go there but my partner demands toilets as a minimum

Could you see what I meant about the no go road by Rose Creek?

I assume that you've been over the Lions Rd but get hold of the little book that details the efforts of the Rotary roadbuilders because there are some amazing photos in it. Shows the baths and diving board built at Cougal(I think) but now demolished. There is a camp ground along this road but the owners seem to be letting it disintergrate and there is very little shade. Notice says is for sale
