HI has anyone use one of these fuel funnels.

Seems like a good idea if you can fill directly from the pump, as they claim, but not sure how it would fit where you would have it at an angle on the Paj (and other cars)

Hmmmm...why would there be debris or water in a container of fuel?

Just another gimmick.

Oldman

There is nothing new in the technology of this funnel. The novel bit is the way they have elevated the mesh filter and made room for heaps of water in the bottom.

The basic principal is that applies here is that the fluid that passes through a fine mesh will prevent another passing through. If you wet a very fine gauze, felt hat or chamois leather with water then no petrol or other non-water soluble fluid will pass through it. If petrol or diesel is the first fluid to pass through then water will be filtered out of your fuel. Old felt hats were a favourite for straining fuel - just put the crown of a worn out hat into a funnel and when you had filtered some suspect fuel through it there was a surprising amount of water left in the hat.

If you had to deal with fuel in the 40s & 50s you should have realised what these funnels were. Your nom de plume is 'Oldman" but are you really seeing you were not aware of this?

Thanks for the replies.

I was just wandering whether any one had experience with using this particular funnel.

I must admit I have not had the problem but have heard of people who have had problems with fuel quality when travelling in the outback.

Maybe these can help. Probably cheaper than a felt hat.

PeterD - may be I am not that old - I certainly was not worrying about fuel in the 40s and 50s - just worrying about growing up.

Many thanks for your replies,
Oldman (perhaps I should say notyoungman :))
