Smudger
OT - But I think very much in the mindset of those who visit this
forum. If they're not already there, the Japanese fleet is on its way to kill more of our whales. The closer they get to the Southern Ocean, the angrier I get.
If enough people around the world protest to the Japanese, just maybe they will get the message.
Google "Stop Japanese Whaling" and you'll find numerous avenues to send protests to the poeple who can ultimately stop this killing.
Here's one good link;

G'day Andrew,
Yep, I'm aware that the subject has been aired here recently.
I'm not looking to get a discuscion going, just offering a way for those who are interested to take action.

But protest isn't action , it is merely a statement of opinion .
So long as your actions include buying Toyota , Nissan and Sony they know that your opinion as stated is irrelevant .
I bought a Disco , you have to love a nation who lets us win the ashes so often .

Gidday Smudger, Im not happy about the whaling issue, I find it obscene, mainly because of the culture ive been brought up in.
Im not convinced protests are that effective, however, I do believe in the concept of " Tit for Tat".
May be we can borrow a few atomic warheads and couple of B52s off the yanks and practice the odd [unarmed] drop....just a few kms away from say....Hiroshima.
Of course, this would be done in the name of "RESEARCH"...LOL.
Cheers....Lionel.

That was real
bright, Lionel. As abhorrent as whaling is, why kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people and destroy the lives of those left to clean up the mess?
My father spent time in Hiroshima as part of the BCOF, and although he had little time for the japs, the horror of what he saw of the aftermath clearly coloured his opinion of the yanks that perpetrated the obscenity of dropping the Bomb. I had to put up with his demons throughout my childhood and it was not good.
Why doesn't our government come out and refute the Japs' claim that whaling is in the name of research and purely to do with supplying an exotic food market?

whats the difference between killing whales and killin cows or pigs or sheep or goats or fish??? We all gotta eat. Are you a vegetarian? What about killing carrots and potatoes and beans, They all have feelings too you know.Just ask the wiggles or Mary Poppins; theyle set you straight! Cany help but love these rightious individuals who go down to the docks to rant & rave about people eating whales and then stop on their way home at mcdonalds to ENJOY a
well deserved COW burger.

cows sheep pigs etc are farmed animals that form part of a staple diet
Whales ae not farmed inded there breeding rates would make it uneconimic. the meat does not form part of a diet and is mostly frozen and stockpiled through lack of demand
Sheep cows etc have not been hunted to near extinction in the past
and most importantly all the things you mention are economically sustainable.
the whaling makees no sense on an economic grounds and if they were to be killed at a rate that brought profit the indudtry would collapse through over harvesting within years

Yep; damn your right again. Fish are farm animals. Gotta run. hafta round up the barramundi and whiting & put them in the
barn.If theres no demand for whale meat then theres no concerns that the species will become extinct. However there are ba few hungry icelanders who may not agree with you. This is purely an emotive issue driven by those rabid greens again.

Maybe you should channel your energies into something a little more serious like
Darfur
But then again, it's not trendy, is it ?????
