This is a guide on how to install The GME Garmin Talking POIs into a Garmin GPS that will accept them as per listed in the PDF file, The newer units , Nuvi 760 , 250, and 250W would be the same method as per Nuvi 660

Good info Doug. I got the Nuvi 250W yesterday. So far it seems pretty good. Quick Q. Is the PC - GPS data cable a generic cable that you can get from a computer
shop or do I need to buy one from Garmin? Sorry to deviate slightly from your thread topic.

Hi Doug,
I have a Garmin nuvi 310 which appears to be compatible with the information to which you have directed me.
Can you tell me what the POIs are, because I already have POIs loaded by the people from whom I purchased the GPS. They cover Speed Cameras, Red Light Cameras and School Zones.
Can you also tell me what the "talking" POIs do
Regards,
Rosscoe

Talking POIs are just that, if you have the standard ....ie Redlight Camera locations the GPS will give a ding...ding... warning and the green bar at the top will begin to flash red...(Nuvi 660) If you also have the Talking Points of Interest the GPS will anounce the ahead Camera with voice ...In English , If you aquire extra POI's you can upload them to but the original ones will be lost because all previous POI's will be over written , but that don't matter because if you download all the Camera warnings from the POIwebsite then they will be added with the new ones but download those 2 PDF files I added up the top and read them and keep them .It's all explained in those.

G'day
Has anyone actually loaded the POIs from the links in DougT s first post into a Nuvi 250w ?
It is not listed in the compatable Garmins list on that page .
Also I have some POIs already installed by Johnny Appleseed GPS when I purchased it there in November how does their POI s installed compare ?
and as this list would be deleted if I attempted installing the other list I would like to know are the POIs the same or does one or the other have a better list of red light cameras and other POIs
I have driven through a few intersections with cameras on them and the JA gps POIs warning remains silent
Is it possible to download the file to my PC and see what is on there before buying a cable and trying to install the file on the Garmin 250w

The new list you will install will be same or maybe better than J/A.
Make sure you have the POI warning turned on , and also make sure you have them installed properly, and don't expect to have 100% of the camera's covered,
