evening all
is it possible to connect my rear vision mirror / reverse camera screen to my laptop the mirror has RCA connectors and is 2 channel and if possible i would like to connect direct to the laptop BUT how do i do it as it would be great to switch between channels to use the reverse camera and to beable to see the maps on a front screen as my laptop normally sits on the back seat

Assuming your laptop doesn't have a Video-Out port, you would need a VGA-to-Video Convertor.

If you have SVideo out then you can get a much cheaper solution - Jaycar sell a SVHS-to-Video Convertor.

Gob & Denny,

I paid around $60 for one at Jaycar, use it at home as well to put the pictures from laptop on the tv for all to see on big screen therefore has a double use. 4wd and at home worth the money. Just go in and tell them what you want to do they will get appropriate item

Cheers

Hi Steve,

One of these from Jaycar ($6.60) - S-VHS adapter

You'll also need a S-VHS cable from the laptop to the adapter and possibly a RCA cable from the adapter to the screen.

BUT.....unless the screen is at least VGA resolution (in fact probably at least 800x600) then I doubt that you'll see enough detail to make it useable. From memory, mine is about 480x320.

All the best for to you and Denny for Christmas and the New Year

Adrian is right about the resolution,it's not good, but I still use it as a guide as to where I am in the paddock. If you are just trying to find a track junction it's OK, but that about the limit.
As I said I still use mine and hang the laptop[ over the back of the seat, pull it out if I need detail.
