I know it's illegal to drive a across a median strip, but at least if you have a high-clearance vehicle you can drive across the median strip in extenuating circumstances.

After 5 minutes behind a car waiting to turn left, and a number of opportunities to do so missed, I decided to drive over the medium strip of the divided road (in my cruiser) to fill up with Diesel. After checking all was clear behind me, a girl in a white Lancer was back there about 10m away. Drove over and was followed by the Lancer, and out hops a gun toting female cop now wearing police headgear. I was let off with a warning.
