Wife come home yesterday and gave me my xmas present early. Brand new GME the one I had enquired about ($570 worth) and another $200 cash sitting in the box for a new arial. She wanted to give it to me before xmas so I could go and get the required arial today before they shut down for xmas. I also got some sand grabber mats which I did order myself a couple of weeks ago but she handed them over to me as
well as they were from her. THEN handed me a made up dummy voucher up to the value of $1000 to go towards either a rear locker or bullbar. Yeeh Ha. Thinking of going the bullbar first. Have been looking on ebay since Ive had the prado and nothing except a few damaged ones and she new I was getting bleep @d off but I didnt want to lay out the $$$ for a new one. MMMM think Ill be going back to Penrith Plaze on the way home and getting a few extra things for my lovely wife. Anyway, everybody have a great merry xmas and a safe and happy new year and dont forget double points in force as of today here in NSW. regards Steve

If your going to get a bullbar get a steel one, the Alloys look good ...for city drivers but when crunch comes to crunch ....the Alloy will crunch under a decent roo strike , but looking at your vehicle in the little pic I guess you will have to go for an Airbag compatible bar, ...what a load of crap, go to ARB or TJM and get a price on a new one , you know then you have one that will fit and will work and your dollars will be
well spent,I seen on here a few months back where someone got one from Ebay and it would'nt fit , Glad I got a non airbag vehicle ,

Hi Doug, yes Im going to go to ARB/TJM and see what they say in regards to the weight. That is my main concern is the extra weight hanging over the front end of the prado. Was told the steel ones are extremely heavy on the front of the prado springs. I had the OME fitted all round a while ago but Im sure the front springs will need to be upgraded to heavier ones if I fit a steel bar. I really dont want to add to the expense of fitting new front springs again to suit a steel bar. Should have thought of that prior to getting
the springs done. I will see what they say anyway and if its going to require new springs then I will settle for an alloy one. I had steel on the old lux and yes they take a lot more of a beating then an alloy thats for sure. Use to use it as a plough half the time. It also had a steel rear step bar which was great but not available for the prado. Would probably look out of place anyway on the prado. I cant get brush bars either for the prado like I could for the hilux no one makes them for the prado.Yes its got dual airbags so needs to be airbag compatible. All the best. regards Steve M

Steve
You have to work out the difference in the weight which probably would not be all that much, If you already have OME front coils then I feel there should be no drama's, and even if you did replace the coils , what's the cost of replacing a ruined bullbar over a pair of coils, ...your call, ..

Just an add on Stephen- note your near Penrith?? If you want good advice and good price on a UHF antenna- try Mobile One (factory) on Camden Airport. About a 40 min drive from Penrith. They make them, test them on site- with a good range.

$570 GME
$200 Cash
$1,000 Voucher
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuude! if I were you I would be putting on the steel helmet and flak jacket, cause its obvious beyond all reasonable doubt that she is 'softening' you up for some monumental cataclysmic event that has happened or is about to happen. (LOL)
Possibles;
(1) Pregnant with Triplets
(2) Wants a special 'I luv U' ring with triple overhead diamonds and 'split ring geometry'
(3) Pregnant with quads.
(4) Wants her own 200's with nipple pink upholstery
(5) Pregnant with quins
(6) Has bought that $10m McMansion on the Canals that you two have fantasized about, and now needs to sell the current house, cash in your super, sell the Prado, hock the GM & Voucher to add to the $200 cash to raise the required deposit for same.
(7) Has auctioned off your left Kidney, Right eye to add to the deposit.
ROFLMAO
Merry X-mas to you and a Happy New Year.
PS
Go the ARB steel bar, if you want quality, safety and usability.

LOL Lucy, funny you say that after I had opened it all I said to her OK what going on, what do you want, what's happened to the car, she just looked at me with those puppy dog eyes and said nothing just that she loves me. Mmmm Now while I love my wife I'm going to be a bit wary till xmas day cause I'm sure there is more to it and is just softening me up but will have to wait and see. Definitely not pregnant, me thinking another animal god I hope not rotty just cost us $1300 this week for an operation. All the best to you and your family and safe travelling. Regards Steve

'Rotty just cost us $1300'
Think yourselves lucky, I just picked our female Hungarian Vizala up from the VET $1600 lighter in the pocket.
Had to operate, to locate and identify, then remove a bowel obstruction.
It was a piece of the centre of a corn cob that she 'hoovered down' stuck fast in the duadendum.
As

"Hungarian Vizala" swear at me like that LOL. Have never heard of that breed sounds like it eats the way the rottie does, doesnt chew the food sniffs it down like a vacuum cleaner then chokes on it then coughs it back up and has another go. Hope your dear friend is all good. There like one of the family. Hope she recovers alright. Regards Steve M
