Well the parts arrived this morning and the mechanic came in specially to do the job. Fitted new front wheel bearings and seals and a new set of wheel studs on the LH rear. So it all go and hope to be outta here within half an hour.

Lets hope they were not over tightened this time, eh?
Only one way the cones become blue, hubs too hot to touch, well you know the story now.
Is a fact that wheel bearings, unless contaminated by water, never need re greasing. For instance, the rear bearings on many 4wd's (not floating axles) have a single sealed ball race that can last the life of the vehicle. (what's yours?)
Glad he/she is not my mechanic. Would not be game to leave town!
But have a good trip East into far better country than SA ever had, then a safe trip home.
Combine it also with a Happy Christmas and you are on a winner!
cheers furph

The Leaving Peterborough Blues

Well Willem & Judith left Peterborough early
He'd checked his vehicle good and thoroughly
Imagine his surprise as he came down a hill (heel - American Accent)
Rolling straight past him went one back wheel

He had those lost wheel bearings, don't you hate that
Low down Leaving Peterborough Blues

Now Willem's not a man to cuss and swear
He's travelled many miles from here to there
But you'd think he'd been a ship hand on a lugger
When the air was filled with sounds of bugger, bugger

He had those lost wheel bearings, don't you hate that
Low down Leaving Peterborough Blues
