I have found a great new camping area in central west NSW. Stayed there for a weekend 2 weeks ago.

It is on top of the highest point around and entry is by key only from the owner. Views are 360deg. from Capertee to Mudgee & Kandos to Bathurst.

It is just a great bush camp with tons of very dead trees that are perfect for the camp fire and give off wonderful heat.

At night you can see Kandos & Rylstone lights away in the distance and the stars are so close you feel like you can touch them.

I will not give out the name of the property here as asked buy the owner, but I will give you the contact details of the owner so he can keep control of who goes in there.

A donation towards upkeep is all that he is asking to camp there.
A good base for a weekend at the wineries of Mudgee or a trip into the historic towns of Sofala & Gulgong or a trip to Wellington Caves, all easy distance from here.

This is to advise you all of a camp site. It is of no consequence to the owner if no one goes there and is not an ad, I am doing this as a member of this site that is always on the lookout for nice spots to camp that are free or close to it. This fits that bill.

No one is to profit from this, except those that use this mans generosity wisely and fairly.

So if you want that special place for a weekend give this number a call.

PS I have booked it for our club over Easter, sorry.

I agree, this is a top spot

I stayed there a few years ago and at that time the 'camp fee' was a bottle of the finest red you could afford.

The owner has cut some very interesting tracks through the bush for his own use and they make for great 4x4 action

Capertee Valley (nearby) is in itself a 'wonder' being the largest enclosed valley in Australia (possibly in the Southern Hemisphere). I 'belive' the only 'enclosed valley' larger than Capertee is the Grand Canyon - may be wrong but that is what I have been told

I think you are talking about Mt Airlie (Jurassic Pk) Its not that. That's great driving though, up to the lookout etc.. and the Grotto & out to Gwenolan Pt.
No this is 40k further north nearer to Mudgee & Ilford & Lake Windemere.

This is the first time he has opened his property to us.
