HI all. This Febuary I want to drive from
Brisbane to
Melbourne via the dirt roads and tracks as much as possiible. I have about 5 days to do it in and would like to get some suggestions on routes etc, (even gps tracks if you have them. The only firm requirements that I have is that I want to pass thru Tintaldra on the NSW/Vic border and also need to call into
Bathurst. If have any suggestions on routes or reccommended camping areas enroute I would love to hear from you.

This should be an interesting drive!
Maybe cross the border at
Boonah Border
gate (White
Swamp) could then go east to Woodenbong then south down through Paddys Gully to Tabulum through rocky river and down through the Styx river area. Have to drop of the east side of the range and then head back towards Glouster and
Barrington tops then feed into
Hill End down to
Bathurst.
I guess from there you could head down behind the the range on the east coast and feed into the Victoria.
Places like McKillops
bridge are great dirt roads through great areas and then hed back up into the high country and feed through to come out near
Mansfield. You are then only a couple hours from
Melbourne.
Travelling from
Mansfield you could go via the old train tunnel near
Yea which makes a dirt road interesting.
Enjoy the trip whichever way you go. Seems like an idea I must try one day.
