Hi all,
Long time i have posted here. But need to get a battery for our Mitsu V6 3000 TS 95 family car.
Here on the
Gold Coast i bought a 'new' Calcuim battery, that was 2 years ago. Today i was washing the car and cleaning it out - no radio, just internal doors and interior light on. After 2 hours, she refused to turn over, only with a whuupph, whuuuph.
We only used the car yesterday to take the dogs to
the beach.
People have said that i'm lucky to have got 2 years! Is this true?
So give me a brand or make of a good battery (i have a good sized tray for it to go into), that will last for more than 2-3 years....
Didn't, in the past allow you to get 5-6 years out of the 'original' battery?
I bought a genuine Yusa battery for my 1100cc Yamaha, and it's been going great for 3 years+. But the 'generic' batts went for 1 year!
So, i'm in the same spot now with our car. Can anyone tell me a good brand i can get on the
Gold Coast?
Cheers,
Hope you all get together this xmas and say hello at least to people you know - in a nice friendly way ;)
Alan.

Hi try Battery World 131760. They sell Century and I think they have Yuasa also. They have different quality batteries depending what you want to pay. From what I have learnt about battery's the calcium battery is not a good choice there not suited to stand the heat of the motor.
Cheers Allan

I generally buy the biggest chinese battery the vehicle will take and so far I have had a good run.

I've had a Delkor calcium battery in my Statesman for over 5 years. How much warranty did you get with your's?
Most batteries these days are good for around 3-4 years but in my experience the calcium's will usually last a lot longer.

I steer clear of the Calcium batteries too. I get a good run out of standard wet cell batteries.
Exide are 20% off at Kmart from 27th dec.

Alan
There was a thread a while ago about how long people were getting out of their battery's maybe do a search there. In that thread i wrote that my 1990 EA Falcon ws still on the original battery and it still is now. That vehicle just drove out the driveway (heading your way in fact) when it gets home tonight I will check the brand. 17 years isnt a bad run but I think if Murphy reads this I'm Gooone !!!

Had the same thing happen to me two months ago. Just driven 200kms with the van on the back to enjoy a couple of days away from the world of work. Pulled up outside the van-
park office, turned off ,went in side to pay the man, took all of three minutes, turned the key........nothing! Wouldn't even light up the dash lights!Very obliging groundsman jump started the Falcon for me and we were ok till we came home.
Found the local Beaurepaires was considerably cheaper than any of the other suppliers ,(including Kmart,Big W etc, and they fitted it while I was waiting.(With a friendly chat and a smile too.)Think it is a century brand.
The old battery was the second one in the car from about 2001. It is a 1994 Ef Falcon wagon with a genuine 94000 ks on the clock.Bought from an old guy about three years ago.Fastidiously maintained, but a friend on
mine develops harsh environment electronic stuff for the mining industry checked EVERYTHING to do with the charging system anyway.Nothing wrong. In his words "I think the Old one decided to go to wherever battery heaven is. It must have liked the view where you stopped."

Thanks for the reply guys,
Hummm! Seems like any brand is ok - just depends on luck it seems. I would has steered clear of anything 'reliable' at Target, but i have known Exide.
Thinking about it, that Calcuim batt i bought was from Battery World and i think it had a 3 year warranty - but where the heck is the warranty reciept?????
That's the problem with long warranties - keeping track of them.
I'll pop down to BW on Monday morning and see what they can do.
Or else it's Targe'e.
Have a good one guys and gals....
