Hi,
We are looking to buy our first camper trailer. One that we have come across is the Camprite Camper. It has an unusual layout with 2 single beds folding out to the sides and a double bed that either slides or folds out over the drawbar.
Has anyone got any comments about this camper. Any problems, does it seal
well keeping out dust and water, is it
well built to stand up to rough roads and corrigations for years to come.
Cheers,
Topend

They are made here in WA and have an extremely good reputation. The only draw back that I heard of was the lack of storage space in the earlier models; however, I think this has been fixed on the newer ones.
Can I offer you a bit of free advice - hire before you buy. Find out if anyone rents a particular style of camper (ring the manufacturers), because what looks good in a static display may not necessary suit your needs.
This way you can get to try a number of different models and work out what accessories you do and don't need and you wont be wasting your money and wishing you had bought something else.

Hi Topend,
We have the Camprite TL8 and find it perfect for our requirements. It is built extremely
well and will survive offroad far further than any vehicle towing it. It even has dual rear recovery hooks to enable a reverse snatch!
It has dual Kings springs with Rancho shocks on fully independent
suspension with wheel travel needed to be seen to be believed. I reckon the ride inside the camper is smoother than in my GU!
Dust proofing is near perfect, the worst we have had after 100's kms of gravel is a few specks over the kitchen bench top with nothing on the bedding or storage areas.
The only drawbacks is restricted access to the _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx inside at the back when the camper is not setup - you have to pull out any items stored on the floor to gain access. Not a big deal at all but given nearly everything else is so good it stands out.
Even the later model TL8s which has more builtin _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx still has the same problem, but as you have more storage space you tend not to have as many bags on the floor.
Overnight stops are very quick to setup, from stopping to setup in under 5 minutes is possible. And roadside stops for meals are very quick, simply open the back kitchen - it even has a beach umbrella holder to shade the kitchen when the annexe is not setup (click on my members rig & profile below).
Overall it is arguably the best camper on the market for 2 adults and 2 kids - all sleep off the ground and the beds are fully setup, not need to make beds or blow up air mattresses after setting up
camp. Even our 2 kayaks are easily carried and do not need to be removed to set up
camp.
If you have any more questions don't hesitiate to ask (may be a bit slow responding - off camping in the Camprite later today for a few nights!).
Cheers
Captain
