Kimberly Benedictine Nun Sister Scholastics passed away yesterday after spending 50 of her 90 years living the in the remote north-west community of
Kalumburu.
The Spanish born nun had become a familiar talking point in the Kimberly for her motorcycle riding exploits.
Kimberly Catholic Bishop Christopher Saunders explains, "She would ride this motorbike around the mission and down to the village and back again ... sometimes at a great speed.
"People naturally got out of the way because she only had two speeds, which was flat out and stop."
A mass to celebrate Sister Scholastics contribution to the Kimberly will be held after Christmas.
