They actually work very well but add another 500mm overall width to the vehicle.
I had a set for my humvee but sold them as I couldn't see me using them too much.
There was an article in a recent 4wd mag with a Troopy ambo fitted with a set.
Ground pressure is very low so you can cross pretty soft ground with out sinking.

They are called Mattracks, made in the US.
The cost to set up the NSW ambo was $45 000.

Max speed 60Km/h when fitted.

Range Rover had a set years ago.

Good idea for the snow but that would be there limit.
