Unless anyone on here has such a thing perhaps a phone call to Dick Smiths, Harvey norman or similar would get you a definitive answer

Other than them places like Strathfield or the Stereo places that sell IPod clone stuff or Ebay would be worth a try . Probably no genuine IPod ones but lots of generic bits around now.

Graham,
Surely the ones sold at Harvey Norman etc would only be 240 volts . I am after something that hooks up to 12 v DC .

We just got a I Buzz 2 from Tandy that is 12 volt & about the right size for a van. When we were looking I do remember seeing other brands but don't remember exactly which ones were 12 volt. Cheers Craig............

Hi Davo ,

I think they all run on DC , but have a transformer inside them . I am not sure if they are 12 volt or not . I guess if they were , I could bi-pass the transformer and use the 12 v from the van plug .

As John said , I am a techno idiot . ( I guess that is what he meant , not a gamete factory ).

How is the gold mining going ? I am detecting in Cue and Halls Creek in June / July 2008 .

Cheers ,

Willie .

Sorry f what?
Not up at nully anymore. the company I was working for talked big and they do have some gold and good ground but 18 months ago when i joined em there shares were about 25c and they still are.
Some of what they based there story on such as established mill...................... Well lets just say the mill hasnt been going for about 20 years and is good from far but far from good. It has been sitting in 2ft water for years (there was 000s of fish living there) and everything 60cm from the ground is completely rusted.

So outo there and out of the gold (didnt stay long at telfer either)
giving zinc and Copper a go.

Just go to trickie dickies and have a look if they have the transormer on the plug check out the output I reckon many would as it means they dont have to inbuild a transformer just get a generic one from some chinese supplier

Davoe,

Spelt your name wrong . Gee , you didn't stay at Telfer long . I thought that would have been a great place .

I will Google Yalgoo and find out about it .

Will go to Tandy in the New Year .

Cheers ,

Willie .

Willie,

We bought an iPod with amplified dock that has a radio and alarm function form Aldi. It runs on 240 and 4 D size batteries - this may be an option as well. $49.95 but as always, Aldi may not have any left (definitely no iPods but they seemed to have a few docks lying around in the local store)

Hi Adrian,
Four D cells would make it 6 volts , so that would not be any good to me . Thanks for trying though .

Willie,

After posting the message last night I checked the one we've got and it actually has eight C batteries therefore 12v. Filling it with Duracells would add up to almost the price of the unit :)

You could also use a small inverter like the Waeco can sized 100watt ones I can even sell you one for a reasonable price as I dont use it on my laptop any more.

Graham,
It seems crazy to run 12 DC into an inverter so I can run 240 AC into a unit that then converts it to 12 DC .
