Has any one had trouble with serpentine belts making horrible noises, making you think that maybe a bearing is on the way out or something? just completed a 700km run to-day, and for half that distance had this irritating noise coming from the front of the

Defender motor, have replaced the belt twice in about 12000ks because of this noise and it does fix it for a short time only, have used different brands, same result, every thing that moves and spins has been replaced up front on the engine, except the two pulleys!( thinking out loud now) they are only metal pulleys on the waterpump and power steering pump, wonder if they are worn in the grooves? I know! buy a nissan or a Toyo or a terrible Terracan.( But i just love the landy (when its going haha)

Cheers Axle.

Yep.. been there, done that;-))... (EL Falcon wagon)...

Try a bit of chalk dust on the running surface of the belt, and see how ya go... fixed it for me;-)

Axle,

CRC make a pressure pack called "Belt Grip". It's the ducks guts, to stop squelling belts.. Is in a green & white can. Lasts forever, but is a bit sticky, if you spray it on the wrong place!

Hooroo,
Bob.

A bar of Sunlight soap rubbed onto the inside of the belt works brilliantly to stop squeal , dont know why but it has to be "Sunlight" brand [the yellow bar] , no other brand works the same as the Sunlight.
