Does anyone know of someone who either has one of these or of someone who makes them.

I am looking at mounting it on the drawbar, behind the stone guard.

We have a Honda Eu20i

Hi Greg

I got one made by a local sheet metal worker here in Perth, I know it's a long way from home, but I'm sure you can get one made in QLD. It may be dearer then off the self but you can get it made to suit you.

I hope the photos work Gen box 1 gen box 2

Cheers

Richard

Hi Greg,

Had mine made by a local alum welder. This is a 2 piece lid withy the top opening and then the front opens. All is sealed dust proof seals.

Unit can't be run with lid closed but just open the lids and fire up the Gen Set. Bonus is that the unit isn't covered with dust etc when travelling off road.

If you want some pics let me know.

Graeme,
Just had a look at their website. They seem to have fixed quite a few
vans over the years. Going on some of the pictures they have on their site, there was (and a fair chance there still is) a few dodgy caravans driving around (and unfortunately there's alot more dodgy vehicles driving around as well!!!). It's like anything really, keep the maintainence up (and don't abuse it) and it should last for a long time(hopefully??).

Now it's time to hit the drawing board and get this genny box designed. Thanks.

Cheers Greg

Hi Greg

I used Diamond Tool Boxes to make mine. I made a cardboard prototype and then gave it to them to copy.

Greg, we had ours made to our design by an aluminium fabricator.

It is mounted on the a-frame behind the stone guard. The stone guard is easily removed for the front opening door which has gas struts to open either 180 degrees or 90 degrees (in case of rain if running the genny as follows). The genny is mounted on a slide which comes out so the genny can be run in situ if necessary. There are two compartments with the other side storing ULP cans, oil and power cords.

We only use the Honda 20i and only use it if necessary - for the air conditioner or occasional power tools.

Photos not available at present as it has been removed for some r&r to the paintwork on the a-frame.

Hi Greg

I have an aluminium box that was designed to fit a 50lt Chescold fridge / freezer that might be suitable, was mounted on the draw bar of our old C/T. There are pictures in myswag.org in the general items for sale section. In the eastern suburbs of Brissie.

Hi Greg

I took some photos of ours today and put them on the caravaners forum. The generator isn't in the box, but you can see where the Honda fits on a slide.

Greg,

Depending on where in QLD you are, I found this place today

Alloy Works in Mackay

They should be able to knock one up for you.

Cheers Kev
