Currently looking at buying a 2002 diesel Troop Carrier, just wondering what sort of prices these go for ?
i know prices obviously vary depending on accesseries etc but the one im looking at at the moment is a stocker other than i think what is a factory snorkel and bullbar and has approx 100K on the clock

Also with the interior colours, is there a fair mix between the brown and blue or is one colour more common than others ?

any feedback would be appreciated

Darren

Darren,
Is it the factory turbo (HDJ78R) or the normally aspirated (HZJ79R)???
Secondly, is its standard (3 or 11 seater) or RV (6seater with bells and whistles)?

The factory RV TD is worth about $10k more than the standard normally aspirated diesel.

Whoops, I got some numbers mixed, It should read:

Is it the factory turbo (HDJ78R) or the normally aspirated (HZJ78R)???
Secondly, is its standard (3 or 11 seater) or RV (5-seater with bells and whistles)?

The factory RV TD is worth about $10k more than the standard normally aspirated diesel, and would sell for about $38k. A standard HZJ78R for say $26-28k.

Phil it's the HZJ78R 11 seater

a mate put me onto it and told me it was going for $32K but just went and had a look and its $35K so needless to say i just sent him a text message lol

only ones ive seen for sale are in caryards, ex govt stuff, looks like getting one with under 100K on the clock is a rariety as well

Darren,
"Tell im he's dreamin' " :-)
To give you an idea what the factory TD goes for, check this link for the SA Govt Auctions.

They haven't sold a HZJ for a while, but my recollection was that they rarely got above $30k, let alone when 6 years old.

You don't say what state you are in but be aware that in NSW at least (don't know about the others) an 11 seater is classified as a public passenger vehicle, rego is expensive and it will have to undergo a twice yearly over the pits inspection at the RTA
(cost included in rego $75 each inspection).
To change all this say back to a 3 seater you will have to have the vehicle engineered and then back to the RTA for reclassification.
Same applies if you want to change it to a 6 seater with a forwards facing rear seat. It can all get very expensive on top of purchase costs.
If you want a 6 seater keep looking until you find one BTDT.

Been There Done That ;-)))
Mind you it was a few years ago now . I do know of others that got 'caught' when they moved the goalposts a couple of years ago, the engineers were pretty busy for a while.
Going from an 11 seater to a 3 seater is the easiest option engineerwise as he only has to see the seats removed and write the paperwork up. You will of course have to block all the holes and may also need a weighbridge ticket after the seat removal.
