I'm loving being back in a manual, only on road.

My new vehicle is a 4.0 L V6 4x4 Manual Ford Courier.

By christ can it go. I'm just loving swapping cogs and enjoying the sensation that you only get with a manual car that has grunt.

Having said that, I haven't had it off road yet, but I'm sure I'll be disappointed then. This is my fourth 4wd over 15 years (3 manual and 1 auto) and I just know how much better an auto is in rugged off road conditions (with the exception of steep downhill stuff).

Anyway, given I spend 90% of my time on tarmac, I'm going to really enjoy the new beast.

I LIKE PLAYING WITH MY STICK TOO!!!

Nothing like a manual car, brakes optional!!!
BUT I STILL USE MY BRAKES AND GEARS TO SLOW DOWN!!!

Christopher, no need to shout. I've driven manual 4wds for a long long time. We also have two autos in the family.
In traffic, nothing beats an auto.
In the bush, or on sand autos are great.
But hills are different.
PS. Brakes are cheaper to replace than transmissions.

Yeah i've being in the game for 12 years and i've done like two front wheel drives my old 4by and my new laser will be due sometime next year, i mainly use brakes more then gearbox, the only time i use the box is going down hill in 3rd gear to maintain speed, stops brakes from over heating! If this cltch needs to be replaced its off to my mech mate to do it! Bugger doing four boxes, you would've think i learnt after the first time?

Have fun,

Cheers

Hey Jim, I think the post you wrote about the Hyundai was more passionate a couple of years back. Nick's BIL has a Santa Gay and likes it.
