Has anyone had any experience using a Magellan 310 GPS with a laptop running Ozexplorer. If so does it run OK, don't want to upgrade the GPS if I don't have to.

Cheers

Wazza,

Yes I had read that thread, but it doesn't confirm that the 310 worked OK with Ozexplorer.

Ok, just checking. I have OziExplorer working right here beside me using the NMEA string from a trimble gps. The only thing you can't do is upload/download waypoints to the receiver. As the 310 outputs NEMA as well, I would almost bet you my emap that it can work.Cheers,

Wazza,

Thanks for that, I was a bit reluctant to spend the $99 on the data/power cable if there was a chance it wasn't going to work for me.

Cheers

Buggerlux,

A mate of ours made a powew/data cable for our Garmin for about $8. He made one for his Magellan months ago too. Both work a treat and not hard to do.

David,

Thanks, it isn't clear in the Ozexplorer GPS options that the 310 is supported, it makes reference to the 315, 320 etc and "other Magellans," my assumption therefore is the "other" category will be the choice for config.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I have just had a look at the config of Oziexplorer, it does not list the 310. I have a 315 as I didn't think the 310 had the data output. On the back of the unit there should be four stainless steel contacts to connect the cable.
Though if it outputs NMEA then it should work.
Cheers.
