hi all
just wandering is there such a thing as break down insurance
ie. if i have mechanical break down in middle of no where Simpson
canning will they come and get me i always travel
well prepared
but u can't cover every thing.

We've all asked this question in the past, and the answer is basically no. We used to have a mob that did it but they don't any more.
Check with your motoring body. In Qld the RACQ has a "plus" service which will recover you if you're on any gazetted road on the mainland of Australia. So Fraser and Moreton Islands are out.
The Simpson is out. But there are recovery
services at both ends of the Simpason (that will cost you your first born).
The "plus " service costs a little more, but if you break down it will definately be worth it.

I saw on a
forum somewhere the costs of recovery from MT Dare or the other end of whichever track it was and it was similar to this
Drive out to you $2-$3 per km. Tow you back Double whatever the original was PLUS $65 an hour out and back all at hourly rate
The other end was even more expensive.
This is a badly remembered recollection, someone will probably correct me
