Plenty Highway Feedback

Can you still camp at Tobermorey Station. Read where it was now closed and was wondering why. We camped there three years ago. Derek.

No you can't. My guess is that they weren't making a profit. They had to have someone clean the facilities etc etc and someone in the shop. Plus the touros were a PITA when they wanted tyre and mechanical repairs (mostly because they travelled too quickly.)
It will be sorely missed by those who go that way.

Theyy had to pull a troopie out of their water crossing ar entry in march 2007 - seems he didn't know about going in the back way. I guess it all vontributes when you only have three person family running that and another 1.5m acres

Cheers

Same as what Footloose said.....selling a small amount of fuel each week and the odd camper wasnt worth the hassle I think....but Jervois is an ok camp.....

Have a good'n'

Hi

there is an excellent NEW campng ground behind the Harts Ramge race course. Not the humpies at the race course, travel another 2-3 km and it is set in the hill. lovely spot, no idea who runs it, no signs, no caretaker, no fees, nothing but a well set up site with showers, fireplaces etc. Phantom camping we called it!

Wondering if Public Liability Insurance they had to pay out, was too high.
Bloody pity they closed, was a nice place, and the best of friendly people.
Cheers

The campground mentioned is called the "Spotted Tiger Campground". Its run by the Arltarlpilta Community (Harts Range)

Its named after a bore near the area. The area is surrounded by Mica mines that were being dug in the 1940's. Evidence remains of tunnels, hand built roads and explosion points in the Ranges where mining occurred.
